Biography

Terroir is a French term used in describing wine, coffee and tea that denotes the special characteristics that geography has bestowed upon them. Essentially, the land that the grapes are grown in imparts a unique quality that is specific to that region. Loosely translated as "a sense of place," the concept of terroir goes to the heart of the French wine Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) system that has been the most widely used model for designation and wine laws around the world. Montesquieu Wines believes in terroir and that wine is an expression of the land it came from. Capturing a vineyard's essence is essential to good wine, and Montesquieu handpicks and selects only exclusive and hard to find wines from all over the world. The wines that Montesquieu offers are never mass-produced and cannot be found at any wine store. When you open a bottle from Montesquieu inside you will find the winemaker's passion and love as a wine artist. The boutique wines that Montesquieu deals with are often family owned and frequently produce less than 1,000 cases of wine a year. In some instances fewer than 100 cases of wine that truly capture the vision of the winemaker and the terroir of the winery are made available by Montesquieu. Montequieu’s wine buyers are aware that not all small production wines are right for their market, so they seek boutique wines untainted by corporate ownership and of the highest quality. Montesquieu carefully selects and samples all wine that they represent, seeking to bring the client the smoothest and finest varietals available. Montesquieu carries only the most exclusive wines, and every bottle bought from them is of the highest quality. Established in 1686, Montesquieu has long been dedicated to bringing the world's highest caliber wines to wine lovers around the world.
