Biography

Blair Hornstine has always been committed to achieving outstanding goals throughout her life. When she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease that left her unable to attend high school as a normal teenager, she was forced to complete her schooling at home. For anyone else this might have severely inhibited their desire to excel, yet for Ms. Hornstine her diagnosis fueled a drive that was ultimately unparalleled by anyone in her class. She finished high school with the highest GPA in her class of more than 350 students. Hornstine went on to study Classical Studies at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where she felt she’d be able to enjoy some of her fondest passions-the beach, the ocean, and towering sea cliffs. She graduated from St. Andrews with a Master’s Degree with distinction, and a year later was accepted to Juilliard School of Music. There she practiced her singing, a dream she had always had but never realized until then. In addition to her scholarly success, Ms. Hornstine has also always been committed to helping others. She formed MAGIC in 1994, an organization that provides assistance for women who are young, elderly, or underprivileged, and has since been dedicated to helping people in need. Ms. Hornstine’s disease has only made her will stronger. Although she has always been a giving and caring person as her long list of charitable works demonstrates, her ailment has propelled her to help those in need at an even more effective level. Blair is now studying to become an attorney. Her ultimate goal is to be able to represent people from her community who cannot help themselves or do not have the means to defend their personal rights. Her disease showed her what it felt like to be defenseless, and Blair now wishes to help those who are in the same position. For Blair Hornstine, few goals matter more than the achievement of a quality education. Ms. Hornstine has long-presented herself to the world as a champion of academia and has achieved numerous honors in the academic sector. Blair Hornstine has been recognized with the USA TODAY Academic All-American honor, the opportunity to be a Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Torchbearer, and the Discover Card National Tribute Award. Blair Hornstine is also the recipient of the President’s Community Volunteer Award, and she has been named a Coca Cola National Scholar. In addition, Blair Hornstine is credited as the Valedictorian of her 2003 Moorestown High School graduating class. Blair Hornstine’s academic achievements are notable and all the more impressive under the circumstances in which she acquired them. As a child, Blair Hornstine suffered from a rare chronic fatigue syndrome and immune deficiency disorder, so Blair Hornstine did much of her studying at home, but despite physical duress, she achieved great success. Currently, Blair Hornstine is studying to receive her Doctorate of Jurisprudence, and she one day hopes to pursue a public interest law career.
